Houston Rockets center Steven Adams will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season following surgery on his left ankle, NBA insider Shams Charania reported Wednesday. The team is already without Fred VanVleet, who is sidelined for the season with a torn ACL.

Adams, 32, appeared in 11 games this season, averaging 5.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 22.8 minutes per contest. The veteran big man has provided interior defense and rebounding, helping anchor a Rockets squad led by Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun.

Durant has been carrying the offense, averaging 26.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists over 42 games, while Sengun contributes 21.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Amen Thompson has also been a key contributor, adding 18.2 points and 7.7 assists per contest.

The Rockets currently sit fourth in the Western Conference at 28-16, despite missing significant pieces.

Houston remains a contender in the West but faces a more challenging path without Adams and VanVleet in the lineup.
