After a lot of uncertainty amongst the Real Madrid fans, it looks like Sergio Rodriguez is staying after all – and as a bonus – Gustavo Ayon is close to re-signing as well.

The Spanish point guard was thinking about going back to the NBA but he decided to remain with the Spanish champions next season. He informed the team earlier in the week of his intentions for next season.

The 30-year-old, a 2006 NBA Draft pick for the Phoenix Suns, spent four years in the league, playing for the Portland Trailblazers, Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks before moving back home to Spain and Real Madrid in 2010.

Last season, Rodriguez averaged 10.9 points and 6.2 assists in the Euroleague.

And it also looks like Mexican international Gustavo Ayon is close to re-signing with the club after becoming free agent.

Ayon has been a dominant force for Real this season inside and re-signing him was seen as one of coach Pablo Laso’s top priorities.

Starting all of Real Madrid’s 27 Euroleague games last season, Ayon averaged 11.6 points and 7.9 rebounds a game.
