San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan made it clear he wasn’t carrying any frustration after a postgame incident Wednesday involving Jarred Vanderbilt of the Los Angeles Lakers.
The exchange stemmed from contact to the face late in the game, but Sochan framed it as a misunderstanding rather than a confrontation.
“I must’ve said something to him during the game, and maybe it wasn’t very nice,” the player explained. “He must have taken it in the wrong way and told me to see him after the game. So, I did. And we just had a polite exchange.”
Sochan went on to describe the emotional contrast between the two, adding, “I was, I think, intact and very joyful and the other person wasn’t. Yeah, he just wasn’t emotionally stable in that moment. So, it’s something he has to work on. It’s just life.”
The fourth-year forward treated the situation as part of competition rather than something worth lingering on, signaling that no further issue remained between the two players.
Meanwhile, rookie forward Carter Bryant took advantage of a brief assignment to the G League.
Bryant was sent to the Austin Spurs on Friday, where he logged 28 minutes and finished with 15 points, five rebounds, and two blocks before being recalled Saturday.
Head coach Mitch Johnson downplayed the idea of Bryant becoming a regular G League shuttle, stressing the move was situational.
For Bryant, the experience was about rhythm and confidence.
“That was the most minutes I have played since my senior year at high school,” he said. “So it was a great opportunity for me to get some live reps, to see the ball go through the basket a little bit.”
He also emphasized how closely confidence and performance are tied together.
“That’s the biggest thing in the game of basketball,” Bryant said. “If your confidence is lacking, it’s going to be hard for you to play no matter how good you are.”
