The Sacramento Kings denied Zach LaVine’s trade request to the Atlanta Hawks during the offseason, NBA insider Jake Fischer reported on The Stein Line. LaVine’s Klutch Sports representatives explored a deal that would have sent him to Atlanta in exchange for Trae Young, but Sacramento refused to pursue the trade.
LaVine, 30, is in the fourth year of a five-year, $215 million contract with a player option for the final season. This year, he is averaging 20.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists over 25 games while shooting 48.4% from the field and 38.6% from three.
The Kings rely on LaVine alongside DeMar DeRozan, who averages 18.4 points and 3.4 assists, and Domantas Sabonis contributing 17.2 points and 12.3 rebounds. Keegan Murray adds 14.6 points per game, while veteran Russell Westbrook provides 14.5 points and 6.6 rebounds in 37 games.
Sacramento sits at 8-29, close to the bottom in the Western Conference, with a points-per-game deficit of nearly 12 against opponents. LaVine’s scoring and veteran leadership remain central as the franchise navigates a rebuilding season.
Atlanta, positioned 10th in the Eastern Conference at 17-21, relies on Trae Young’s 19.3 points and 8.9 assists per game. Jalen Johnson contributes 23.7 points and 10.4 rebounds, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker adds 20.5 points.
