Stephen Curry addressed the media Monday following the Golden State Warriors’ narrow 103-102 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers at Intuit Dome. “It was both like back-to-back calls because obviously the continuation thing’s been a story since Brooklyn,” Curry said, referencing controversial officiating moments.
On the goaltending that sparked Warriors coach Steve Kerr’s ejection, Curry explained, “I’ve never seen it where it’s a delayed call… Oh, then oh was a foul. Oh, no basket. And then literally the next possession clear goaltend… it’s hard to miss both of those in a momentum swinging… situation like that.”
Curry defended the team’s response despite the officiating challenges. “Coach did the right thing. We responded the right way. Gave ourselves a chance to win. But on the road that’s a tough, tough moment.”
The star guard acknowledged his own struggles from long range, going 4 for 15 on three-pointers and 9 for 23 overall, and noted the challenge of converting opportunities under pressure. “The continuation thing and the goaltend, those are plays that swing momentum… we had a chance to finish the game, we did what we could.”
Curry also highlighted the competitiveness of the final minute, when the lead changed multiple times. “We were right there… we fought hard… gave ourselves a shot,” he said, reflecting on back-to-back threes that briefly cut the deficit to one.
Despite the loss, Curry praised the team’s effort. “We did what we could defensively, we defended without fouling… we took care of the ball, forced turnovers… gave ourselves a chance to win.” He stressed the importance of composure in tight road games, especially against playoff-caliber opponents like the Clippers.
Golden State fell to 19-18, dropping its eighth consecutive road game against Los Angeles. Jimmy Butler led the Warriors with 24 points, while Draymond Green contributed 12 assists. Kawhi Leonard posted 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Clippers, who improved to 13-22 despite James Harden being sidelined with a shoulder issue.
The Warriors return home Wednesday to host the Milwaukee Bucks to begin an eight-game homestand, while the Clippers open a three-game Eastern trip at New York.
