Miami Heat guard Norman Powell briefly appeared in danger of an early exit Saturday after feeling tightness in his right hamstring against Minnesota, but he quickly returned and finished with a team-high 21 points, as reported by Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.

He carried that momentum into Sunday, erupting for 34 points in a win over New Orleans.

Powell said playing through discomfort is simply part of who he is, explaining that if he feels capable of contributing, he wants to stay on the floor and make an impact.

He added that he values every opportunity he gets in the league and doesn’t want to waste games by sitting out unless absolutely necessary.

Since being acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers, Powell has emerged as a key scorer for Miami, leading the team at 24.4 points per game and strengthening his outlook for a long-term future with the Heat.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra noted that Powell trusted how his body felt and passed all checks after being evaluated, allowing him to finish the game without further issue.
