The Brooklyn Nets continue to struggle whenever Michael Porter Jr. is unavailable, dropping to 0-6 this season in games he has missed.

That trend held again as Porter, the team’s top scoring option, was sidelined by illness for the second night of a back-to-back set.

Without him, Brooklyn was overmatched by the Washington Wizards, falling behind early and never recovering in a lopsided 20-point loss.

The Nets’ offense sputtered throughout the night, converting only 39.5 percent of their shots from the field and hitting just six of 29 attempts from beyond the arc.

The defeat also marked their third consecutive loss, adding to a growing sense of frustration around the team’s recent play.

With the team struggling without him and the season sliding, Dan Devine of Yahoo Sports examines whether converting Porter into future assets would better serve the franchise long term.
