Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard recently appeared on the Road Trippin’ Show with Allie Clifton, where he opened up about his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon and how he’s feeling as he works toward returning next season.
Lillard shared that the rehab process has been moving in a positive direction, even if it requires patience and restraint.
He explained that injuries of this nature demand time and discipline, especially in the early stages when progress can feel slow and limiting.
Those first weeks and months can test both the body and the mind, but staying patient and trusting the process has helped him push forward.
As his recovery has progressed, he’s begun to feel encouraged by the small but meaningful signs that his body is responding well.
Lillard said he feels confident about the decision to take a full year to recover, noting that his comfort level has only improved as time has gone on.
Being able to move more naturally again, regain confidence in unpredictable motions, handle light contact, and gradually increase intensity has reassured him that he’s heading in the right direction.
He emphasized how important it is to reach a point where movement feels instinctive again, without hesitation or overthinking.
Looking ahead, Lillard expressed optimism not only about his own health but also about the direction of the team.
He believes the growth the Blazers have shown gives them a real chance to compete once he returns at full strength.
With his body responding well and his mindset in a strong place, he feels encouraged about what lies ahead next season.
