Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic has revealed that his team has already incorporated some tactical ideas discussed with Real Madrid coach Pedro Martinez during the offseason.
The two coaches spent several days together in Las Vegas during Toronto’s preparations for the NBA Summer League, exchanging basketball concepts and discussing different offensive strategies.
Rajakovic explained that the meetings involved extensive conversations about coaching philosophies and practical ways to improve their respective teams.
According to the Serbian coach, the exchange was beneficial for both organizations, with Martinez also taking ideas from Toronto’s Summer League program back to Real Madrid.
“We spent many hours talking, and we’re still in touch. It was an exchange of ideas, and we’re using some of those things. When we played with our Summer League team, he took some of those ideas with him to Real Madrid.”
The Raptors have since started implementing certain concepts from those discussions, demonstrating that the collaboration extended beyond simply observing another coach’s methods.
Rajakovic also confirmed that he and Martinez have remained in contact following their meetings in Las Vegas.
