The Sacramento Kings are reportedly exploring options to acquire Jonathan Kuminga, according to Evan Sidery. The team is considering involving Malik Monk in a multi-team trade that could bring the 23-year-old forward from Golden State.
Kuminga, in the first year of a two-year, $46.8 million deal with a team option for next season, has averaged 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists over 18 games for the Warriors this season. He is shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 32 percent from three-point range.
The Warriors, currently 17-16 in the Western Conference standings, rank eighth in the West and have relied heavily on Stephen Curry, who averages 28.8 points and 4.3 assists per game, and Jimmy Butler, contributing 19.7 points and 5.6 rebounds. Kuminga’s versatility as a forward provides Sacramento an opportunity to bolster both scoring and athleticism in the frontcourt.
Sacramento, holding an 8-25 record, sits 20 games behind the conference leaders. Zach LaVine leads the Kings with 20.2 points per game, while DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis contribute 18.5 and 17.2 points, respectively. Adding Kuminga would create a younger core alongside the team’s current veterans.
Monk’s inclusion in trade discussions could facilitate a deal, as the Kings seek to receive meaningful assets from Golden State in exchange for the versatile wing. The move aligns with Sacramento’s broader strategy of accelerating its rebuild while staying competitive in the Western Conference.
