While frustration exists after last year’s 64-win campaign, team officials do not view Atkinson as being on the hot seat.
Cleveland’s leadership, including president of basketball operations Koby Altman, has resisted making knee-jerk roster moves, turning down multiple trade offers while waiting to evaluate the team at full strength.
Injuries have played a major role in the uneven performance, with key players such as Max Strus, Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, and Jarrett Allen missing significant time.
With the league’s most expensive roster and second-apron restrictions limiting trade options, the Cavaliers are leaning on patience and internal improvement.
Both Atkinson and team leaders believe the season will stabilize as health improves, with playoff performance ultimately serving as the true benchmark for success.
