Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch was fined $35,000 by the NBA following his ejection in Friday’s win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The league cited inappropriate language toward officials and Finch’s failure to leave the court promptly after being tossed.
According to Chris Hine of Star Tribune, the coach was ejected midway through the first quarter after arguing foul calls he believed were missed on Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle.
Multiple assistants and security personnel were needed to keep Finch away from the officials following the incident.
Finch addressed the situation at Saturday’s practice, explaining that he intentionally spoke up to try to change the tone of the game.
He praised his players and staff for responding well after his exit and guiding the team to a win.
The ejection was only the second of Finch’s career, and Randle said teammates were impressed by the passion, describing the moment as “top tier” and calling Finch a fierce competitor.
