Olympiacos announced the signing of American guard Monte Morris on Wednesday, December 10, with a contract extending through the end of the 2025-26 season. The move comes after Keenan Evans suffered a season-ending Achilles injury, leaving a significant gap in the team’s backcourt.

Morris, 30, brings extensive NBA experience to Piraeus, having played for the Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, and Indiana Pacers since 2017. Across 420 career regular-season games, he has averaged 9.5 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 47.4% from the field and 38.9% from three.

The guard also holds playoff experience, appearing in 57 games with averages of 8.3 points and 3.1 assists per contest, including stints with Denver and Minnesota. His ability to run an offense and contribute efficiently as a scorer addresses Olympiacos’ urgent need for backcourt depth.

Olympiacos enters Wednesday’s announcement sitting seventh in the EuroLeague with an 8-5 record, holding a +60 point differential over 13 games. The team has relied heavily on Sasha Vezenkov (17.1 PPG, 7.4 RPG) and Tyler Dorsey (17.8 PPG, 2.5 APG) for scoring, while Nikola Milutinov anchors the interior with 10.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

The addition of Morris offers flexibility in rotation alongside Thomas Walkup and Frank Ntilikina, who have combined for 6.1 assists per game. Olympiacos aims to stabilize its guard play as it looks to contend in the upper tier of EuroLeague standings, where competition is tight with Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv, AS Monaco, and Crvena Zvezda all above 64% win rates.
