The Trail Blazers have found their next head coach, hiring Micah Nori to lead the franchise after his five-year stint as the Timberwolves’ lead assistant.

According to reports, Nori has agreed to a one-year contract that includes team options for both a second and third season.

The longtime assistant has been considered for several head coaching vacancies in recent years and now gets his first opportunity to lead an NBA team.

Portland began its coaching search after Chauncey Billups’ federal arrest last October.

Tiago Splitter took over on an interim basis for the rest of the season but departed this summer after accepting the Bulls’ head coaching position.

Nori takes over a team that showed significant progress last season, as the Trail Blazers returned to the playoffs in 2026 for the first time since moving on from Damian Lillard.
