Raptors guard Immanuel Quickley will not be available for Toronto’s NBA Cup quarterfinal matchup against the Knicks tonight, as he’s been ruled out due to an illness, according to a tweet from Steve Popper of Newsday.
His absence marks a significant setback for the Raptors, who were already preparing to play without RJ Barrett as he continues to recover from a right knee sprain.
There is at least some encouraging news for Toronto: Jamal Shead, who had been listed as questionable because of a right quad contusion, has been cleared to play.
With Quickley sidelined, Shead is expected to take on a larger role, while Ja’Kobe Walter should also see an increased share of the backcourt minutes.
Quickley has been a key part of the Raptors’ lineup this season, starting all 25 games and averaging 16.5 points, 6.2 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 32.2 minutes per contest.
His playmaking and scoring will be missed as Toronto attempts to advance in the tournament.
