During his appearance on FanDuel’s Run it Back, Sam Amick of The Athletic reported that Sacramento Kings general manager Scott Perry is actively working to temper the expectations of team owner Vivek Ranadive, urging him to embrace a slower, long-term rebuild of the roster.
Amick explained that Perry is trying to keep Ranadive “at bay” and persuade him that reshaping the team properly won’t be quick, saying, “(Perry is trying to) convince him that this might take three, four, or five years to turn around.”
Amick later clarified on Twitter that team owner isn’t resisting the concept of reconstructing the roster.
Instead, given Ranadive’s history of being heavily involved in basketball decisions, Perry is emphasizing that the franchise must be extremely “patient and prudent” as it moves forward.
According to Amick, the Kings’ roster remains highly unsettled at this stage, with most players being far from guaranteed long-term pieces.
Only a select group of younger talents – including forward Keegan Murray and rookie Nique Clifford – appear to be clear parts of Sacramento’s plans as the organization begins its extended rebuilding effort.
