Chris Paul says he’s moving forward calmly and without frustration after the Los Angeles Clippers chose to end his tenure with the team.

Speaking with People Magazine, the veteran guard explained that he’s “at peace” with the organization’s decision to “part ways” with him and emphasized that he’s focused on whatever his next NBA stop may be.

“I’m actually at peace with everything,” he said. “More than anything, I’m excited about being around and getting a chance to play a small role in whatever anything looks like next.”

Meanwhile, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue pushed back against speculation that the two weren’t communicating during Paul’s final stretch with the team.

“That ain’t true,” Lue said when asked about reported tension. “How he gonna play and I’m not talking to him? There was a stretch when he wasn’t gonna play and be out of the rotation, it was tough for him because he’s a competitor.”

The coach also clarified that he wasn’t part of the final conversation in which team officials informed Paul he was no longer welcome around the club.

According to Lue, the decision didn’t sit well with several Clippers players, though he stressed he has “no problem with Chris.”
