The Miami Heat and Orlando Magic, both 14–10, meet Tuesday, December 9, at 6:00 PM ET at Orlando’s Kia Center in an NBA Cup quarterfinal clash. Miami is on a three-game losing streak, while Orlando enters after a one-game skid.
Miami has Tyler Herro, Pelle Larsson, and Davion Mitchell listed as probable, with Vladislav Goldin and Dru Smith questionable. Terry Rozier remains out and will not be with the team. Herro is dealing with a right big toe contusion, Larsson has right hip flexor tightness, and Mitchell is managing right groin tightness.
Key contributors for the Heat include Norman Powell (24.8 PPG), Bam Adebayo (19.2 PPG, 9.0 RPG), and Andrew Wiggins (16.8 PPG, 5.0 RPG). Powell and Wiggins provide scoring and perimeter defense, while Adebayo anchors Miami’s interior on both ends.
Orlando will be without Franz Wagner (left high ankle sprain) and Moritz Wagner (left knee injury), alongside G League two-way players Jamal Cain, Colin Castleton, and Orlando Robinson. Wagner had averaged 22.7 points and 6.1 rebounds before his injury sidelined him.
The Magic’s remaining core features Paolo Banchero (20.4 PPG, 7.9 RPG) and Desmond Bane (18.3 PPG). Banchero offers inside scoring and rebounding, while Bane’s perimeter shooting stretches Miami’s defense. Wendell Carter Jr. and Anthony Black are expected to contribute across scoring, rebounding, and playmaking.
Miami lost a tight 105–106 matchup to Orlando on December 5 and fell 111–127 to Sacramento on December 6. Orlando, meanwhile, is coming off a 100–106 loss at New York but holds a 2–0 season series edge over Miami.
