With Keegan Murray highly unlikely to be moved this season – due in part to the poison pill provision tied to his contract – the player drawing the most leaguewide interest on the Kings’ roster may actually be guard Keon Ellis.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports that executives around the NBA have been surprised by how limited Ellis’ role has been so far this fall, given how productive he was last year.
Ellis started 28 of the 80 games he played last season and averaged 24.4 minutes per game. At age 25, he contributed 8.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per contest, posting an efficient .489/.433/.849 shooting line.
Despite the Kings finishing below .500, they had a +3.0 net rating when Ellis was on the floor. This fall, however, his playing time has dipped to just 17.4 minutes per game.
Scotto notes that the Pacers are among several teams that have expressed interest in Ellis, having pursued him previously as well.
He is in the final season of his current contract and will become an unrestricted free agent in 2026 if he’s not extended after becoming eligible in February.
