The Detroit Pistons have made a roster move, officially signing Wendell Moore Jr. to a two-way contract and waiving Colby Jones.
According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Detroit opened up the necessary roster spot by releasing Jones, who had been on a two-way deal since late July.
For Moore, this marks another chance to re-establish himself in the NBA after being waived by the Boston Celtics during training camp.
Moore is a familiar face to the Pistons’ organization, having spent part of last season with Detroit before being moved at the trade deadline.
The former Duke standout, selected in the first round of the 2022 draft, played two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves before joining the Pistons in an offseason trade.
After his release in February, he signed a two-way deal with the Charlotte Hornets, finishing the season there before Boston picked him up for training camp.
Over his NBA career, Moore has appeared in 90 games, averaging 2.3 points in 8.1 minutes per contest.
Last season, he played in a total of 36 games between Detroit and Charlotte, where he averaged 4.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists across 13.9 minutes per game.
Jones, meanwhile, saw limited action in Detroit, logging just seven minutes of garbage-time play in one game this season.
The 2023 second-round pick spent his rookie year with the Sacramento Kings and split time between the Kings and Wizards last season, appearing in 39 games overall.
He was later traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in June, who waived his non-guaranteed contract shortly afterward.
