The Charlotte Hornets have reached an agreement on a two-way contract with wing Wendell Moore Jr. This move comes shortly after Moore was waived by the Detroit Pistons as part of their roster adjustments during the trade deadline.
Two-way contracts allow players to split time between an NBA team and its G League affiliate, offering flexibility for player development.
Moore, a versatile wing known for his defensive abilities and athleticism, appeared in 20 NBA games this season, where he averaged 3.2 points per game while shooting an efficient 46% from the field. Although his playing time was limited, Moore showed flashes of potential as a young contributor.
The Pistons initially acquired Moore from the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2024 offseason. The transaction was primarily a salary-shedding move for the Timberwolves, who were looking to create financial flexibility.
Despite being a former first-round pick, Moore struggled to find a consistent role in Detroit’s rotation, leading to his release.
By joining the Hornets on a two-way contract, Moore will have the opportunity to continue his development while competing for playing time on a young Charlotte team that values versatile wing players.
