Olympiacos had been on Codi Miller-McIntyre’s list of potential destinations well before he eventually joined the club.
After a strong season with Crvena Zvezda in which he led the EuroLeague with 7.4 assists per game, Miller-McIntyre became one of the competition’s most attractive point guards.
His eventual decision to move to Piraeus was therefore far from accidental.
“A few years ago, speaking with my agent, we had a few teams that we knew we wanted to play for, and Olympiacos was one of them,” he said.
At the same time, leaving Crvena Zvezda was difficult for Miller-McIntyre because of the connection he developed with the Serbian club and its supporters.
He views Olympiacos as a destination that allows him to take the next step without completely leaving that relationship behind.
“Also, just the connection with Crvena Zvezda. Leaving Crvena Zvezda was very hard, obviously.
“I think this was a perfect transition to come to a team like Olympiacos, but also keep that connection with Crvena Zvezda, because my love for Serbia, and my love for that club, the team, the management, the organization, and all of its supporters.
“Somehow, coming here, I’m able to keep that love there.”
