Former two-time NBA All-Star Victor Oladipo has joined the Wisconsin Herd, the G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, sources confirmed on November 9. Oladipo was claimed off waivers by the Santa Cruz Warriors before being traded to Wisconsin, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.
Oladipo, 33, most recently played for the Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association this year. He appeared in NBA preseason games in October, scoring 20 points against the San Antonio Spurs and 24 points versus the Los Angeles Clippers.
The 2018 NBA Most Improved Player spent the early part of his career with Orlando (2013–2016) before stints with Oklahoma City, Indiana, Houston, and Miami. He earned All-Star selections in 2018 and 2019, was named to the All-NBA Third Team, and led the league in steals in 2018.
Oladipo’s move to the Herd represents a strategic step toward returning to the NBA. Playing in the G League will give him the opportunity to showcase his scoring, defense, and playmaking abilities in front of scouts and NBA executives.
The Herd will likely rely on Oladipo to provide veteran leadership and scoring punch as the team pursues a strong showing in the G League season. His presence could also serve as a blueprint for other former NBA players looking to return to the league via the developmental circuit.
