The Sacramento Kings are finalizing a deal to sign free agent forward Precious Achiuwa, according to reports. To make room on the roster, the team will waive forward/center Isaac Jones.
Achiuwa, a 6-foot-8 versatile big man, spent last season with the New York Knicks, where he averaged 6.6 points and 5.6 rebounds in 20.5 minutes per game off the bench.
The former first-round pick was part of the Miami Heat during the preseason but was released before the regular season began.
Jones, also 6-foot-8, appeared in 43 games for Sacramento over parts of two seasons. He initially joined the Kings on a two-way deal before being signed to the main roster in March.
While Jones provided energy and depth in the frontcourt, the team opted for Achiuwa’s experience and defensive versatility as they look to strengthen their rotation.
Achiuwa, 26, brings five years of NBA experience, having previously played for the Heat, Raptors, and Knicks.
