Dubai Basketball delivered a shocking result in EuroLeague Round 4, dismantling defending champion Fenerbahce 93–69 in Istanbul to claim its first-ever road win in the competition.
Coming off consecutive heavy defeats to Monaco and Olympiacos, Jurica Golemac’s team entered the game under pressure and without star guard Dzanan Musa. Yet from the opening minutes, the visitors showed poise and aggression, turning what looked like a daunting task into a statement victory.
Led by Mfiondu Kabengele’s 26 points and 7 rebounds, Dubai took control midway through the first quarter and never looked back. The 28-year-old center dominated inside, while Klemen Prepelic and McKinley Wright orchestrated the offense with precision.
Dubai’s defensive intensity forced Fenerbahce into long possessions and low-percentage shots. The Turkish side managed only 11 points in the second quarter — its lowest scoring quarter of the season — as the visitors entered halftime ahead 46–31.
From there, the contest became one-sided. Dubai’s advantage grew beyond 20 points in the third quarter and ballooned to 32 late in the game.
Dwayne Bacon added 21 points, Filip Petrusev had 11, and Prepelic contributed 13 with three three-pointers. The team shot 54.5% on two-pointers and 87.1% from the free-throw line while committing just nine turnovers.
For Fenerbahce, the defeat exposed ongoing struggles. Scottie Wilbekin and Devonte Hall each scored 10 points, while Wade Baldwin IV added 12. The defending champions hit only 21.7% from three-point range and were out-rebounded 33–28.
Golemac’s group improved to 2–2 with the win, while Saras Jasikevicius’s squad fell to 2–2 after its second straight loss.
Dubai will face FC Barcelona on Thursday in another major test, while Fenerbahce looks to regroup before traveling to face Bayern Munich.
