The Brooklyn Nets have waived forward Drew Timme and guard Dariq Whitehead, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Timme, who joined the Nets on March 28, made an early impression in limited action. The former Gonzaga standout debuted with an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double in a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, followed by a 19-point effort against the Washington Wizards. He tied Derrick Coleman’s franchise record for most points through a player’s first two games with 30 total.
Across nine NBA appearances this season, Timme averaged 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 28.2 minutes per game, shooting 44.1 percent from the field. In the G League, he was one of the most productive players for the Long Island Nets, averaging 23.9 points and 10.2 rebounds while shooting 57.4 percent from the floor in 29 games.
Whitehead, a first-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, had been working to find consistent minutes in Brooklyn’s rotation. The 21-year-old appeared in 20 games this season, averaging 5.7 points in 12.3 minutes while shooting 44.6 percent from three-point range.
The former Duke guard also logged significant time with the Long Island Nets in the G League, posting 12.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Despite stretches of strong shooting, injuries and depth at the wing position limited his opportunities with the main roster.
