Delon Wright expressed his reaction after the Pacers waived him following a preseason head injury. Wright, who was signed just before camp, suffered a collision with Minnesota’s Jaylen Clark during Indiana’s overtime win in their first preseason game on Tuesday.

The Pacers announced Wright’s release on Thursday morning via social media and confirmed the signing of veteran point guard Cam Payne, who played alongside Wright with the Knicks last season.

Wright took to Twitter to update fans on his condition, writing: “Sick business !! 🤣,” before adding in another post: “Thanks to everyone that prayed or sent get well wishes my way! Yes that was a brutal hit I took but, I am doing good just 10 stitches above my eye and 4 on my elbow.”

Despite the injury and subsequent waiver, Wright emphasized his recovery and gratitude for the support he received. His brief tenure with the Pacers was marked by the promising preseason start and unfortunate early exit due to injury.

The Pacers’ move reflects the high-stakes nature of NBA roster management, especially during preseason, when teams balance health, performance, and depth at key positions.
