The Indiana Pacers announced Thursday that they have signed guard Cam Payne to a training camp contract, while waiving Delon Wright. Payne will wear jersey number 15 for the upcoming season.
Payne, 31, has played for multiple NBA teams since his debut with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2015, including the Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns, and New York Knicks.
He brings experience as a combo guard and a career average of 7.8 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.0 rebounds per game across 477 regular-season appearances.
Wright, who joined the Pacers earlier this offseason, had spent time with 11 NBA franchises over his 10-year career. Wright’s career averages include 6.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game across 548 contests.
The move gives Indiana additional depth in the backcourt as the team prepares for the 2025–26 season. Payne is expected to compete for minutes alongside T.J. McConnell, Andrew Nembhard, and Bennedict Mathurin, while also providing veteran leadership for a Pacers roster featuring young talent like Johnny Furphy and Quenton Jackson.
The Pacers open training camp with a mix of established players and rising prospects, including Tyrese Haliburton recovering from Achilles injury.
