With key guards Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride, and Cameron Payne sidelined due to injuries, Delon Wright and Landry Shamet have stepped up to play meaningful minutes in the Knicks’ backcourt.

As Andrew Crane of the New York Post reports, both players have made notable contributions despite their temporary roles.

Wright, known for his defensive tenacity, has now started three consecutive games, including Tuesday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Head coach Tom Thibodeau has praised Wright’s impact on that end of the floor, highlighting his ability to disrupt opposing offenses.

“He’s got great size at his position,” Thibodeau said. “That’s his gift, is his defense, and he gets a lot of deflections.”

Meanwhile, Shamet has been a consistent scoring presence off the bench, registering double-digit points in three of the last four games.

His ability to space the floor and provide an offensive spark has been valuable in the absence of the team’s primary ball-handlers.

Even as the backcourt returns to full strength, Wright and Shamet could continue to play key roles down the stretch.

With both players on expiring contracts, their performances in these crucial minutes may also serve as an audition for future opportunities in New York or elsewhere.
