Golden State Warriors center Quinten Post is eager to learn from new teammate Al Horford, who signed a two-year, $12 million deal with the team on October 1. Post, coming off a solid rookie season, said he has been asking Horford questions and taking notes during practices.
“Offensively right now we play a similar role in our system, being a spacer,” Post told reporters after a recent practice, via NBC Sports Bay Area. “But he’s very good at looking for his own [shot]… I feel like I can definitely learn from him from where he picks his own spots to be aggressive.”
Post also highlighted Horford’s defensive consistency. “He’s always in the right spots. Obviously, he’s in great shape. Definitely a lot to learn, and I’m trying to see what he’s doing every day,” he added.
Last night, the Warriors played their second preseason game, winning 129-123 over the Portland Trail Blazers at Chase Center. Post led the team off the bench with 20 points, including four three-pointers, in 25 minutes.
Stephen Curry contributed 11 points and three assists in just 16 minutes before resting, while Draymond Green added nine points and two assists. Buddy Hield scored 13 points with three threes, and Toumani Camara posted 14 points for Portland.
Post finished the game with four rebounds and two assists, showing growth in his second NBA season. His efforts reflect the lessons he hopes to carry forward from Horford’s veteran leadership.
Horford, 39, brings a mix of experience and athleticism to the Warriors, with a career spanning 19 seasons, five All-Star selections, and multiple playoff appearances. Post aims to integrate Horford’s approach on both ends of the floor into his own game.
