Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green will miss the team’s preseason opener on October 3 against the Los Angeles Lakers due to a low-grade hamstring strain.

Head coach Jordan Ott confirmed the decision, stating the focus is on ensuring Green is ready for the regular season opener on October 22, per Kellan Olson.

Green joined the Suns this offseason via a blockbuster seven-team trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets.

In his four seasons with Houston, Green averaged 20.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game across 307 career appearances.

Last season, Green played all 82 games for the Rockets, averaging 21 points per contest with a 35.4% three-point shooting clip.

The Suns’ preseason schedule also includes matchups against the Brooklyn Nets and a second game versus the Lakers in mid-October.
