Michael Porter Jr. is focused on maximizing his basketball career while maintaining his health, telling reporters he wants to play “as long as my body allows me.” The Brooklyn Nets forward emphasized taking each season seriously and reassessing his future annually.

Porter, 27, highlighted his durability in recent years despite a history of injuries. He noted playing nearly a full 82-game schedule plus the playoffs with Denver, calling himself “pretty much an iron man” over the last few seasons.

The former Denver Nuggets star joined Brooklyn on July 8, in a trade that sent Cameron Johnson to Denver and included a 2032 first-round pick. Porter’s move marks a new chapter in his career and provides the Nets with a versatile scoring forward.

Porter reflected on balancing passion and physical limitations, explaining that while he wants to give his all each year, he remains mindful of his body’s capacity.

Over six NBA seasons, Porter has averaged 16.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in 345 regular-season appearances. His scoring efficiency includes a .500 field-goal percentage and .406 from three-point range.

In the playoffs, Porter has played 75 games, averaging 13.0 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting .446 from the field. Despite some inconsistencies due to injuries, he remains one of the league’s reliable scoring wings.
