Michael Porter Jr. questions modern tipping culture

Michael Porter Jr. believes tipping expectations have gone too far, questioning why customers are expected to leave the same percentage regardless of how expensive an order is.

“If the Uber Eats order is $250, why are you still tipping 20% when they’re doing the same amount of work as if you ordered a $20 meal…” Porter said.

The NBA forward argued that the amount of work involved in delivering an expensive order may be similar to delivering a much cheaper one, yet percentage-based tipping can result in a significantly larger payment.

“I would say tipping culture is definitely out of control,” Porter added.
