After his breakout showing at EuroBasket 2025 with Finland, Miikka Muurinen is officially turning the page on his amateur career.

Instead of returning to AZ Compass Prep in the United States, the 18-year-old forward will begin his professional journey, according to Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.

“The experience at EuroBasket shaped Miika this summer,” his agent Teddy Archer explained to DraftExpress.

“He loved being around pros and being all about basketball 24/7. He wants to eat, breathe, and sleep this thing like he did this summer. He’s looking for the best basketball opportunity now.”

At 6’11”, Muurinen stood out as one of the most exciting young players of the tournament, helping Finland reach the semifinals for the first time in the country’s history.

His above-the-rim play, especially a series of highlight dunks, showcased his athleticism on the continental stage. He averaged 6.6 points and 1.9 rebounds during the campaign, while giving the Finnish team valuable energy off the bench.

Even before EuroBasket, Muurinen was already considered one of the premier recruits in his class. His performance only elevated that reputation.

Scouts now see him as a strong candidate to become a lottery pick in a future NBA Draft, while his immediate options remain open in Europe, Australia, or elsewhere.
