Michael Porter Jr., now with the Brooklyn Nets, revealed a surprising moment from his rookie transition camp where he accidentally leaked NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s phone number. The incident occurred while Porter was using Snapchat during a presentation in New York.
Porter explained he was bored and posted a snap of the room, unaware that Silver’s number appeared on a screen behind him. “I didn’t mean to do it, but I leaked bro’s number—And the President of the United States got Adam Silver’s number,” Porter said on #Respectfully The Justin Laboy Show.
He added that his sister quickly noticed the mistake and urged him to delete the post. However, by that point, it had already been screenshot hundreds of times. The clip went viral on Twitter within an hour, amassing potentially millions of views.
Porter called it a moment he might regret, noting that Silver had to change his number after the leak. The forward reflected on the situation with humor, highlighting the unexpected consequences of social media in the NBA.
The incident occurred years before Porter’s July 8 trade to the Nets, which involved a 2032 first-round pick going to Denver in exchange for Cameron Johnson. Porter has steadily built his career since his rookie season with the Nuggets in 2019–20.
During his six seasons with Denver, Porter averaged 16.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game while maintaining a 50% field goal percentage. He also contributed in the playoffs, including the 2023 season where he averaged 13.4 points and 8.1 rebounds over 20 games.
In the 2024–25 season, he averaged 18.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game for the Nuggets before being traded to the Nets, emphasizing his ongoing impact in the NBA.
