Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke candidly about his mindset heading into the 2025–26 season with the Milwaukee Bucks, emphasizing his preference for challenging environments. The superstar told Sport24.gr, “I like challenges. I’ve realized I like living with pressure. If I’m in an environment without pressure and I don’t believe we can achieve something great, I don’t want to be there.”
Antetokounmpo, 30, has maintained an elite level of play throughout his career, highlighted by a 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game average during the 2024–25 season. His consistency earned him his ninth consecutive Eastern Conference All-Star selection.
The Greek forward also reflected on life off the court, noting the influence of family and maturity on his priorities. “When you reach 30, have four kids, and you’re married—I think marriage makes you more mature. I want to do what makes me happy… what makes me happy is winning and feeling there’s a challenge,” he said.
Antetokounmpo’s commitment to winning has been evident in recent performances. In the 2025 playoffs, he averaged career-highs with 33.0 points, 15.4 rebounds, and a .606 field goal percentage, including a historic 30-point, 20-rebound, 13-assist outing in Game 5 against the Indiana Pacers. Only three other players in NBA playoff history have matched a 30/20/10 game.
The Bucks are entering a season of transition, marking their first full campaign since the 2012–13 season without Khris Middleton, and significant roster changes including the absence of Pat Connaughton, Brook Lopez, and Damian Lillard on opening night.
Giannis has consistently led the Bucks to success, including capturing the NBA Cup in December with a triple-double performance of 26 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists, earning the Tournament MVP award. His career achievements include five All-Star selections, an MVP award, and over 20,000 career points.
