Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac expressed his condolences following the fatal shooting of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk. On X, Isaac called Kirk his “friend and Brother In Christ,” offering prayers for his family and close friends.

Kirk, 31, was shot while addressing a crowd of approximately 3,000 at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, during a question-and-answer session on Wednesday, September 10. The shooting has been described by Governor Spencer Cox as a “political assassination.”

The gunman reportedly fired a single shot from a nearby rooftop about 130 meters away. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, who was dressed in dark clothing, and law enforcement confirmed that a person of interest is now in custody.

Kirk was immediately rushed to a hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. President Donald Trump confirmed Kirk’s death on Truth Social, calling him “Great, and even Legendary.”

The incident occurred as part of Kirk’s “American Comeback Tour,” sponsored by UVU’s student chapter of Turning Point USA. Campus officials closed the university for the day following the attack.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including potential motives and connections. The FBI and local law enforcement are coordinating to ensure all evidence is properly reviewed.
