The EuroBasket 2025 Round of 16 bracket is starting to take shape, with eight teams already locked into their matchups following the conclusion of Groups A and B.
Turkey, Serbia, Latvia, and Portugal advanced from Group A, while Germany, Lithuania, Finland, and Sweden qualified out of Group B. Their pairings are now confirmed.
Turkey, who swept Group A with a 5–0 record, will open knockout play against Sweden, who grabbed the fourth seed in Group B through tiebreakers.
Germany, dominant with the tournament’s best point differential (+164), will take on Portugal, who finished fourth in Group A after edging Estonia on the final day.
Serbia, led by Nikola Jokic, will clash with Finland, paced by Lauri Markkanen’s 25.4 points per game. The matchup is one of the most anticipated of the opening round.
Latvia, the host nation, drew Lithuania in a Baltic showdown. Lithuania went 4–1 in Group B but lost Rokas Jokubaitis, who was leading the competition in assists at 8.5 per game, due to a knee injury that will keep him sidelined for at least 6 months.
Groups C and D will wrap up play today, finalizing the other half of the Round of 16 bracket. Greece, Italy, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, and Israel, Poland, France, Slovenia remain in contention.
Stars have already defined the group phase. Luka Doncic leads all scorers at 31.3 points per game for Slovenia, while Nikola Vucevic ranks second in rebounds with 11.6 per game for Montenegro, though his team was eliminated.
Alperen Sengun has stood out for Turkey, averaging 21.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 6.8 assists, ranking top ten across all three major categories.
Germany’s Franz Wagner and Dennis Schroder have balanced efficiency and scoring, with Wagner at 21.6 points per game on 55.4% shooting and Schroder adding 21 points and 6.2 assists per game.
With half of the Round of 16 now official, the focus shifts to today’s decisive Group C and D games, which will determine the remaining eight knockout spots.
