The Brooklyn Nets have locked in center Day’Ron Sharpe on a new contract that keeps him in Brooklyn through at least 2026.
NBA insider Michael Scotto reported the final agreement is a two-year, $12.5 million deal with a team option in the second season.
The updated figure represents a slight increase from the original terms first reported in June, when the sides were expected to settle at $12 million over two years.
Sharpe, 23, posted career-highs across the board last season. He averaged 7.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.8 blocks in 18.1 minutes per game for Brooklyn.
His efficiency also improved at the free throw line, where he hit 75.7 percent, up from 61 percent the previous season.
Drafted out of North Carolina in 2021, Sharpe has steadily carved out a role as a reliable backup center. In four seasons with the Nets, he has appeared in 191 games and averaged 6.5 points and 5.6 rebounds.
The Nets view Sharpe as a key depth piece behind starting center Nic Claxton. His ability to rebound and provide energy minutes has been critical in bolstering Brooklyn’s second unit.
