Washington Wizards center Alex Sarr is expected to be ready for the start of the 2025–26 NBA season despite a left calf injury that will sideline him for the remainder of EuroBasket 2025.
According to Josh Robbins of The Atletic, the injury does not require surgery, and Sarr remains on track to join the team fully healthy for training camp.
The 20-year-old had been performing strongly in Group D for France, averaging 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per game across two matchups before the injury.
Sarr scored 7 points against Belgium on 60 percent shooting and 12 points against Slovenia while shooting 83 percent from the field. He also added nine total rebounds, two assists, and a block during his brief tournament appearance.
The Wizards relied on Sarr heavily last season, where he started all 67 games he played, averaging 13 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. His contributions earned him a spot on the 2024–25 NBA All-Rookie First Team.
Despite the EuroBasket setback, Washington officials are confident in Sarr’s ability to be fully prepared for the NBA season. His experience and skill set are expected to anchor the Wizards’ frontcourt rotation.
