Alex Sarr confirmed he has not spoken with Anthony Davis since the trade that sent the veteran forward to Washington.
“I know he’s been in DC, but we were out of town… I’ll connect with him right after the All-Star break,” Sarr told HoopsHype.
The 20-year-old center praised the potential of playing alongside Davis. “He attracts a lot of attention… he’s going to allow me to play off the ball, and on the ball too sometimes,” Sarr said.
Sarr highlighted the opportunity to learn from Davis on both ends of the floor. “I think it’s a lot of stuff I can learn from him defensively, offensively… we can play off of each other,” he added.
Washington acquired Davis from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Khris Middleton, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, and two first-round picks, signaling a shift toward immediate contention.
The Wizards also brought in Trae Young earlier, creating a core that includes Sarr, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, and Bilal Coulibaly alongside the new stars.
Sarr expressed excitement about the roster upgrade. “We have a very good young group and now we’re adding those two big-time players… it’s exciting getting to share the court with them, learn stuff, and get to compete,” he said.
The trade strengthens Washington’s frontcourt and offensive versatility, pairing Davis’ experience and defensive presence with Sarr’s youth and mobility.
Fans in DC have already shown increased engagement since the moves. “I definitely see it on social media… people realize that we’re building something,” Sarr noted.
Despite the buzz, Sarr has yet to meet Davis in person, and timing for their first on-court collaboration remains uncertain.
Washington currently sits last in the Eastern Conference at 14-39 but hopes the additions of Davis and Young set the foundation for a playoff push next season.
