Estonia has officially announced their final 12-man lineup for the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2025, with guards Kristian Kullamäe and forward Henri Drell standing out as the team’s headline players.

However, the squad will be without one of its most important pieces. Head coach Heiko Rannula suffered a major setback as starting center Maik-Kalev Kotsar, the backbone of the team during the Qualifiers, was ruled out due to a shoulder injury. His absence leaves a significant gap in Estonia’s frontcourt.

Estonia’s EuroBasket 2025 roster:

Henri Drell, Kregor Hermet, Janari Jõesaar, Mikk Jurkatamm, Artur Konontsuk, Kristian Kullamäe, Sander Raieste, Joonas Riismaa, Mart Rosenthal, Matthias Tass, Kaspar Treier, Siim-Sander Vene.

The team’s preparations for the tournament produced mixed results. Estonia played five friendly games and finished with three wins and two defeats. They recorded impressive victories over Israel, Georgia, and Sweden but opened with a loss to Lithuania and dropped their final test against Great Britain in front of the home crowd in Tallinn.

Losing Kotsar, who was Estonia’s leading scorer and rebounder throughout the qualification campaign, means that much of the interior responsibility now falls on Matthias Tass, currently the squad’s only true big man.

As a result, perimeter players like Kullamäe and Drell will have to take on an even larger share of the offensive burden. Veteran captain Siim-Sander Vene, along with Artur Konontsuk and Kaspar Treier, are also expected to play pivotal roles in keeping the team competitive.

Estonia begins its Group A journey on Wednesday, August 27, with a tough opener against powerhouse Serbia at 20:15 CET. They will then face hosts Latvia, followed by games against Czechia, Türkiye, and Portugal in what promises to be a challenging group stage.
