The Atlanta Hawks’ addition of Caleb Houstan now has further clarity. According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, Houstan’s contract with Atlanta is an Exhibit 10 deal.

The 22-year-old forward recently agreed to join the Hawks on a one-year contract after spending his first three NBA seasons with the Orlando Magic.

Selected 32nd overall in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Michigan, Houstan carved out a role as a depth wing in Orlando. Last season, he appeared in 57 games and averaged 4.1 points and 1.3 rebounds across 13.6 minutes per contest.

His most notable contribution came from long range, where he converted 40 percent of his three-point attempts. That shooting ability could help him make a case for a roster spot in Atlanta, a team that values perimeter spacing.

An Exhibit 10 deal provides Houstan with a chance to compete for a standard roster spot in training camp. If waived, he would remain eligible for bonuses should he sign with the Hawks’ G League affiliate.
