The Atlanta Hawks are converting shooting wing Caleb Houstan to a standard contract for the remainder of the season, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

Houstan, 23, is in his fourth NBA season and shot 40% from three-point range over the last two years with the Orlando Magic. He has also hit 40% from deep in the G League this season.

Atlanta signed Houstan on August 19, 2025, adding perimeter depth during a transitional year for the roster. He has appeared in 10 games for the Hawks, averaging 2.3 points in 4.9 minutes while shooting 50% from three-point range on limited attempts.

For his career, the 6-foot-8 forward owns a 37.5% mark from beyond the arc across 178 NBA games. He has averaged 4.0 points in 13.8 minutes per contest while primarily serving as a floor-spacing option.

His most efficient NBA season came in 2024-25 with Orlando, when he shot 40.0% from three and posted a 58.9% effective field goal percentage. That shooting profile fits a Hawks offense that averages 117.3 points per game and ranks among the league’s higher-volume three-point teams at 39.2 attempts per contest.

Atlanta currently sits 10th in the Eastern Conference at 26-30. The club has gone 5-5 over its last 10 games and remains in the play-in race.

The organization reshaped its roster before the trade deadline, prioritizing flexibility and draft capital. The Hawks cleared significant salary and added future second-round picks while maintaining shooting depth on the wings.
