The Toronto Raptors are reportedly open to exploring trade scenarios involving RJ Barrett, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer. Barrett, who carries a $30 million annual salary, could be a key asset in a potential roster move.
Barrett joined Toronto during the 2023–24 season, averaging 21.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists over 32 games. He has maintained consistent production in his second season with the team, posting 21.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists through 58 games in 2024–25.
Fischer noted, via HoopsHype, that Barrett’s representatives are aware of the possibility he could be discussed in trade talks. The Raptors previously explored Barrett’s involvement in the Brandon Ingram trade discussions with the New Orleans Pelicans, though that deal did not materialize.
The 25-year-old forward is entering the third year of a four-year, $107 million contract. His contract and performance make him an attractive option for teams looking to make a major roster addition.
Toronto’s acquisition of Ingram on February 6 in exchange for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, and draft assets, along with Ingram’s subsequent three-year, $120 million extension, may influence the team’s salary cap strategy moving forward.
Barrett’s career averages include 18.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game over 387 regular-season contests. He has also contributed in the playoffs, averaging 17.8 points and 5.9 rebounds over 16 games.
