RJ Barrett has emerged as a trade candidate this offseason, with multiple teams monitoring the Toronto Raptors wing in multi-team discussions, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Barrett is entering the final season of his contract, carrying a $29.62 million salary for 2026-27. The Canadian forward could become an attractive option for teams looking for a proven scoring wing, especially with his production since arriving in Toronto.

Since joining the Raptors, Barrett has averaged 20.5 points per game on 49.5% shooting from the field, 35.3% from three-point range, 5.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists. His 2025-26 season continued that trend, as Barrett averaged 19.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 57 games while shooting 49.1% from the field and 33.9% from deep.

The 26-year-old started all 57 games he played for Toronto and ranked second on the team in scoring behind Brandon Ingram, who averaged 21.5 points per game. Barrett’s efficiency improved compared to earlier stages of his career, as he posted a career-best 55.0% effective field goal percentage during the season.

Toronto finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 46-36 record, earning the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors were eliminated in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games, but the roster showed enough progress around Scottie Barnes, Ingram and Barrett to create decisions for the front office.

Barrett’s role in Toronto has changed since the team acquired him from the New York Knicks. He has become a reliable secondary creator, averaging 3.3 assists this season while sharing the floor with Barnes and Ingram. His ability to attack the basket remains a major part of his offensive profile, with 5.4 made two-point field goals per game and a 57.2% two-point shooting percentage in 2025-26.

The Raptors now have to evaluate whether Barrett fits their longer-term timeline. His expiring contract gives Toronto flexibility, while teams interested in acquiring him could view him as either a win-now addition or a player to retain if they believe his development can continue.
