North Carolina freshman Caleb Wilson has landed one of the biggest endorsements of his young career. According to Shams Charania, Wilson signed a multiyear, multimillion-dollar shoe contract with New Balance ahead of his collegiate debut.
Wilson, an Atlanta native, enters college basketball as one of the most highly regarded recruits in the country. The 6-foot-9 forward committed to North Carolina after weighing offers from Kentucky and Ohio State.
At Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, Wilson built his reputation as one of the top players in the 2025 recruiting class. He averaged 21.6 points, 11.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.6 blocks, and 2.1 steals as a senior, leading his program to its first-ever state championship.
His dominance earned him a selection to the 2025 McDonald’s All-American Game, where he competed alongside other elite prospects. Recruiting outlets consistently ranked him as a five-star player and a consensus top-five recruit nationally.
Wilson’s skill set has drawn attention from both scouts and brands. Known for his versatility, he can score inside, protect the rim, rebound at a high rate, and distribute the ball effectively for his size.
New Balance has continued to expand its basketball portfolio, previously signing stars such as Kawhi Leonard and Jamal Murray. The addition of Wilson positions the brand to invest in the next generation of talent well before his expected entry into the 2026 NBA Draft.
The endorsement reflects the changing landscape for elite prospects, who now secure major deals even before their first college game. With name, image, and likeness (NIL) rules in place, Wilson can benefit financially while still playing for the Tar Heels.
