North Carolina freshman Caleb Wilson, ranked fourth in ESPN’s top-100 NBA draft prospects for 2026, has been ruled out indefinitely after suffering a fractured left hand in Tuesday’s 75-66 road loss to Miami.
Initial in-game X-rays were negative, which allowed Wilson to return for the second half, but follow-up imaging back in Chapel Hill later confirmed the fracture.
In its statement, the school said, “The evaluation process is ongoing to determine the timetable for Wilson’s return.”
The 6-foot-10 forward has been a dominant presence this season, averaging 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks while scoring in double figures in all 24 games – a North Carolina program record.
Wilson’s injury is a significant blow for the Tar Heels, who rank second in ACC offensive efficiency with him on the floor.
The setback came just days after his 23-point performance in a 71-68 win over Duke, UNC’s first victory over the Blue Devils since the 2023-24 season.
The university added that the evaluation process remains ongoing.
