During Friday’s media session, Jalen Brunson was asked if the circumstances surrounding Game 5 feel any different now that the New York Knicks sit just one victory away from capturing the NBA championship.
“Zero-zero,” Brunson responded, making it clear that he is approaching the upcoming matchup with the mindset that the series effectively starts fresh.
Rather than focusing on the Knicks’ 3-1 advantage, his attention remains solely on the next game and the task at hand.
Brunson was also questioned about his preparation following New York’s remarkable comeback victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4.
“I think whenever you win or lose a game, that night, I mean, you’re going to think about it, think about the things you’ve done well or what you did wrong,” said Brunson.
The Knicks star explained that while it is natural to reflect on the outcome immediately after a game, he believes the key is moving forward once a new day begins.
“I’ve always told myself when you wake up the next day, it’s time to turn the page. Yes, we won, but we still have a lot of work to do. We have a lot to learn. We didn’t play our best basketball. We still have a lot to revisit to make sure that we don’t really put ourselves in that position again.”
