
Baskonia has announced the signing of Mamadi Diakite on a two-year deal, adding depth to its frontcourt for the 2025 season. The 2.06-meter Guinean forward joins the Spanish club after a season with the Valley Suns in the G-League.
Diakite averaged 13.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game during his last G-League campaign. His 19.9 efficiency rating highlights his impact as a physical and energetic presence inside.
Before joining Baskonia, Diakite played in multiple NBA franchises, including the Milwaukee Bucks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, and New York Knicks. He also spent time in the G-League developing his game across different teams.
In the NBA, Diakite has appeared in 55 regular-season games across multiple teams. He averaged 3.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks per game, shooting 48.3% from the field and 22.9% from three-point range.
During the playoffs, Diakite played 11 games with averages of 0.8 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 0.2 blocks in 4.5 minutes per contest.
Diakite was part of the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2020-21 championship squad, marking a notable milestone early in his professional career. His NCAA experience with the Virginia Cavaliers laid the foundation for his NBA and international journey.
The addition of Diakite provides Baskonia with a reliable interior option, capable of contributing in scoring, rebounding, and defensive assignments. The club emphasized that his energy and experience will be key assets in the upcoming EuroLeague and domestic campaigns.
